Route Description
The Cape Peninsula tour starts in Cape Town, with pickup from your accommodation. From here, the Cape Peninsula tour heads south along the charming seaside towns of False Bay, before arriving at the first stop, Boulders Beach in Simon's Town.
Boulders Beach is home to one of the world's few mainland breeding colonies of the African penguin, an endangered species found only along the coastlines of South Africa and Namibia. The colony began with just a handful of breeding pairs in 1982 and has since grown to around 2,000 to 3,000 birds. Sheltered by massive granite boulders, the beach offers a rare opportunity to observe these penguins up close, from raised boardwalks that protect the colony while allowing visitors an unforgettable, near eye level view.
From Boulders Beach, the Cape Peninsula tour continues south towards Cape Point, located at the most southern tip of the Cape Peninsula. Along the way, the route passes through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich with fynbos and roaming wildlife, including zebra, ostrich, eland, dassies, baboons, and birds of prey. Cape Point itself is regarded as one of the most beautiful locations in Africa, with dramatic cliffs, white sandy beaches, and sweeping views out over the meeting point of two oceans.
The Cape Peninsula tour then turns north, following the iconic Chapman's Peak Drive, one of the most scenic coastal roads in the world, carved into the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean. The road winds its way to the charming town of Hout Bay, nestled beneath the 12 Apostles mountain range, before continuing along the coastline past Camps Bay, Clifton, and Bantry Bay, each offering their own postcard worthy views.
With cameras full and memories made, the Cape Peninsula tour returns to a dedicated drop off point in Cape Town, bringing an unforgettable day of natural beauty and wildlife to a close.
