Set around 1 hour from Cape Town city, Babylonstoren Wine Estate in the Cape Winelands transports you to a place of tranquillity, luxurious simplicity, extraordinary mountain and valley landscapes, and enchanting history.
Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm dating back to the late 1600s. The farm in Franschhoek lies in the heart of wine country with expansive vineyards along the landscape. Babylonstoren is set on 200 hectares (almost 500 acres) of property, free for guests to explore, with a 3.5-hectare (8 acre) garden of cultivated fruits and vegetables at its heart. Guests can join in on daily garden tours including 15 sections that comprise fruit, berries, fragrant lawns, a prickly pear maze, bees for pollinating, indigenous plants, and a magnificent clivia tunnel.
Celebrating its wine production, The Tasting Room at Babylonstoren Wine Estate offers a wide range of vintages available on the farm. The Green Room is a relaxation lounge for guests with a selection of books, board games, chess, and an easel for painting. Guests can relax at the hot spa which includes a sauna, tropical rain showers, steam room, heated vitality pool, and salt room. The outdoor swimming pool is a restored farm reservoir with a beautiful mountain backdrop, ideal for cooling down in the summer. Although there are plenty of outdoor adventures both on the farm and in the area, guests can also opt to keep fit in the fitness facility overlooking the estate garden.
Put your feet up in the Butterfly Room lounge and library with a pre-dinner drink. At Babylonstoren Wine Estate Dinners and lunch (on selected days) are served at the on-site Babel restaurant with a farm-to-table philosophy, serving all that is freshly grown on the farm. The custom-built Greenhouse offers light seasonal lunches, fresh bread from a wood-fired oven, and cheeses with deli delights.
