Tuningi Safari Lodge extends a luxurious five-star safari not only to honeymooners and couples, but to the entire family. The lodge hosts a maximum of 16 guests in four luxurious double suites and two family suites.

Every unit at Tuningi Safari Lodge is privately situated and features a wrap-around deck with views into the wild bushveld as well as an alfresco shower. The interiors are a blend of old-world charm and luxurious modern comfort with eco design elements. Cozy up with a book in front of your own stone-clad fireplace and soak in a tub with a view. Beds are elegantly draped with mosquito netting bringing a fairy tale charm to the sophisticated design.

Children five years and older can enjoy regular game drives at Tuningi Safari Lodge with their parents, while the younger crowd are taken out on shorter one-hour ‘bumbles’ with a ranger after breakfast. Professional childminders are always available to look after the little ones while parents are on game drives.

Kids all receive a workbook to keep track of the animals, birds, trees, and other exciting things they’ve seen. Activities also include treasure hunts, t-shirt painting, clay modelling, drawing, building puzzles, and swimming.

While the kids are occupied with a host of exciting activities, parents can enjoy a massage, go for a workout in the gym, relax at the main lodge viewing deck, take a dip in the rim-flow pool, or enjoy a drink at the bar.

These luxuriously relaxing general areas link up with wooden walkways that lead to an enchanting boma where you can experience a delightful evening meal under the starry African sky.

Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino).
Other wildlife include but are not limited to Hyaena, Impala, Kudu, Springbok, endangered wild dog, giraffe, zebra, warthog, cheetah, Caracal and many more.
Madikwe Game Reserve is home to 66 large mammal species and 350 species of bird.

Location

Madikwe Game Reserve is located in the North Western Province of South Africa and lies on the South Africa/Botswana border.

Getting There

Madikwe airstrip is the closet airstrip.
There are two daily scheduled return flights from Johannesburg to Madikwe Airstrip with Federal Airlines.
Flight time: Johannesburg to Madikwe: 60 minutes
Road transfers from Madikwe Airstrip to the lodge take approximately 15 – 30 minutes.
The reserve is a 4.5-hour drive from Johannesburg.

Child Policy

Tuningi Safari Lodge welcomes children over 6 years.
Children are accommodated in the Family Suite.
Adding an additional child to the Family Suite will be subject to availability based on occupancy.
