Simbavati Camp George offers an oasis of tranquillity within the wilds of the Klaserie Game Reserve. It is a classic safari escape, set alongside a dry riverbed and within lush indigenous gardens Designed for couples, family and friends, this intimate lodge comprises eight luxury suites, each with its own private deck. This elegant safari lodge is the perfect mix of authentic tradition with a modern twist.

The convivial and art-filled living areas lead out to expansive terraces. Beyond lies the mature indigenous garden which naturally evoke a sense of tranquillity and relaxation. Enjoy the serenity of the many huge fever and baobab trees, read a book in the swing chair, or watch the game at the waterhole where animals come to drink through the day.

The Camp George team loves to share a 360° nature experience, from exploring the bush in search of wildlife, to learning and understanding the intricacies of the ecosystem, to the interactive culinary experience. It is an adventure you will never forget.  Offering a front-row seat to the Greater Kruger wilderness, you can immerse yourself in nature with game drives, guided bush walks and night drives all on offer in the exclusive Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. The Klaserie is known for a magnificent range of animals including leopard, elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, hippo, wild dog and sightings of the rare Sharpe’s Grysbok.

Wildlife

  • High concentration of Big 5 with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as large lion prides.
  • Other wildlife include but are not limited to the hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, African wild dog, hyaena, warthog and many other cat and antelope species.
  • Large antelope herds support the populations of predators in the reserve.
  • Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the region. Many can be seen in the reserve.

Game Drives

  • Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
  • Game drives are led by an experienced guide and tracker team.
  • Vehicles are allowed to go off road to track and follow the wildlife.
  • Strict traverse rules are in place and vehicle numbers are limited in each reserve. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed at any sighting.
  • Night drives and guided bushwalks are permitted.

Location

  • Located in the western region of the Greater Kruger and borders the Kruger National Park, as well as Timbavati, Umbabat and Balulue game reserves .
  • The Kruger National Park is almost 2 million hectares and lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.

Getting There

  • Hoedspruit (HDS) is the closet commercial airport to Camp George, daily flights operate from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
  • Flight time from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit or private airstrip: 60 minutes.
  • Road transfers from Hoedspruit to Camp George take 60 – 90 minutes.

Child Policy

  • Camp George welcomes children from 8 years.
  • Children 8 – 11 years pay 50% of the adult rate.

  • Included: 2 x Game drives per day, guided bush walks, all meals, soft drinks, selected alcoholic beverages, and Hoedspruit Airport (HDS) transfers.
  • Excluded: Premium branded drinks, conservation levies, other transfers, and anything of personal nature.
