Imbalai Safari Lodge is located in a private concession within the Kruger National Parl. Strategically positioned along wildlife movement paths, Imbali Safari Lodge offers guests an exclusive opportunity to relax in luxury while viewing elephant, buffalo, and antelope pass by. Imbali Safari Lodge exudes old-world charm and beautifully marries tradition with nature in its design elements of thatch, stone columns, and timber. Imbali Safari Lodge overlooks the seasonal Nwaswitsontso river. Each of the 12 luxurious suites boast a private plunge pool and viewing deck. The main lodge features a swimming pool, executive-style lounge with a cozy fireplace as well as an expansive timber dining deck and outdoor lounge. In-house spa treatments can be savoured in the comfort of your personal suite.

The Mluwati Private Concession is home to Imbali Safari Lodge and  another two spectacular safari lodges, Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge and Hamiltons Tented Camp. Known for 10 000 hectares of off-the-beaten-track land, its superior Big 5 habitat boasts some of the best game viewing in South Africa. With limited guests, you can be assured of uncrowded wildlife sightings and great photographic opportunities. The rivers running through the reserve make it a drawing card for animals to remain in the area for a drink and attract a variety of birdlife. Expert safari guides endeavour to provide guests with the best wildlife sightings on every occasion. Guests can enjoy an exciting off-roading safari experience and embark on twice daily safaris in specialized safari vehicles. Also experience the splendour of African nature en foot with a professional guide. 

Wildlife

  • High concentration of Big 5 with large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as large lion prides.
  • Other wildlife include but are not limited to the hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, African wild dog, hyaena, warthog and many other cat and antelope species.
  • Large antelope herds support the populations of predators in the reserve.
  • Over 500 bird species have been recorded in the region. Many can be seen in the reserve.

Game Drives

  • Game drives take place twice a day in the early mornings and afternoons for a duration of 3-4 hours.
  • Game drives are led by an experienced guide and tracker team.
  • Vehicles are allowed to go off road to track and follow the wildlife.
  • Strict traverse rules are in place and vehicle numbers are limited in each reserve. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed at any sighting.
  • Night drives and guided bushwalks are permitted.

Location

  • Located in the Mluwati Concession inside the Kruger National Park, bordering the Northern Sabi Sands and Manyeleti Game Reserves.
  • The Kruger National Park is almost 2 million hectares and lies in the north-eastern corner of South Africa in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.

Getting There

  • Skukuza (SKZ) is the closet commercial airport to Imballi Safari Lodge, daily flights operate from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
  • Flight time from Johannesburg to Skukuza: 60 minutes.
  • Flight time from Cape Town to Skukuza: 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Road transfers from Skukuza to Imballi Safari Lodge take 90 minutes.

Child Policy

  • Imbali Safari Lodge welcomes children from 8 years.
  • Children 8 – 11 years pay 50% of adult rate.
  • Children 8 – 12 years are only permitted on game drive at management discretion.

Inclusions & Exclusions

  • Included: 2 x Game drives per day, guided bush walks, all meals, soft drinks and selected alcoholic beverages. Transfers from Skukuza (SZK) or Hoedspruit (HDS) airports are complimentary, subject to availability.
  • Excluded: Premium branded drinks, conservation levies, airport transfers, and anything of personal nature.
